Wall Sheeting in cyclonic areas
Wall Sheeting in cyclonic areas
What you need to know about Wall Sheeting in cyclonic areas...
Material Thickness
For wall sheeting in cyclonic area (i.e. Region C), manufacturers recommend a minimum material thickness of 0.42mm BMT (i.e. 0.47mm TCT) for wall sheeting. You may choose the profile for your wall sheeting. The thinner material thickness costs less per square metre of sheeting, but the allowable girt spacing decreases which may require additional girts. The cost of the extra girts may increase the overall price. Our wall sheeting follows manufacturers' recommendations for girt spacing.
When comparing quotes be sure you check that the wall sheeting is of the same thickness. Also, make sure you read our information below on girt spacing.
Your Choices
We offer Trimdek and Custom Orb (corrugated) profiles. Both profiles cost the same per square metre of actual sheeting. Custom Orb performs slightly better than Trimdek on wall sheeting applications, but it is unlikely to affect the price. See Custom Orb below.
Trimdek®
Trimdek is a higher ribbed profile with the flat pans. In some rare cases it may mean an extra girt is required (which would increase the cost). View Trimdek brochure.
Custom Orb®
Custom Orb (corrugated) is often chosen if people want to have the more traditional Aussie appearance. It's slightly better performance on wall sheeting applications is a good reason to choose it if you have no particular preference. View Custom Orb brochure.
Girt Spacing
Manufacturers specify minimum wall support spacings (i.e. girt spacings) for their sheeting materials. The table below shows the maximum recommended girt spacings in non-cyclonic areas (i.e. Region A and Region B).
In the next step of your quote, Framing Options, you can view the girt positions in each of the frame options available to you. These are calculated to always meet the requirements for the wall sheeting you select.
Also, the detailed quote you receive by email from us, will show the number of girts and their respective spacings. This will enable you to do a thorough comparison with other quotes. When comparing quotes be sure you check that other quotes meet manufacturers' recommendations for girt (support) spacing with walling material.
